Result Declaration Procedure

The UGC-NET result declaration follows a multi-step process:

Qualifying candidates (total slots or Eligibility for Assistant Professor) equal 6% of those who appeared in both papers.

Slots are allocated to different categories as per government reservation policy.

Candidates must appear in both papers and secure minimum aggregate marks:

General category: At least 40%

Reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PwD, Transgender): At least 35%

The number of qualified candidates per subject and category is derived using a prescribed methodology.

Candidates who applied for both JRF and Assistant Professor eligibility form the consideration zone for JRF.

JRF slots are allocated among categories as per reservation policy.

Eligibility Criteria

55% marks in Master’s Degree from UGC-recognized institutions

Reserved category candidates (OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PWD) need at least 50% marks

Candidates awaiting results may apply but must complete their Master’s within two years of the NET result declaration

PhD holders who completed their Master’s by September 19, 1991, get a 5% relaxation in total marks

Candidates should appear in their post graduation subject

Age Limit and Relaxation for Junior Research Fellowship

Maximum age: 30 years

Relaxations:

  • 5 years for women, OBC, SC/ST, and PWD candidates
  • 3 years for L.L.M. degree holders
  • Maximum total relaxation: 5 years under any circumstances
  • Exemptions for Assistant Professor Eligibility
  • NET/SLET/SET qualified candidates

Junior Research Fellowship
