Cracking Agriculture Entrance Exams: Tips and Strategies

Thoroughly understand exam pattern and syllabus:

Carefully going through the exam pattern, marking scheme, topics, subjects, and syllabus is crucial to strategize your preparation approach.

For national-level exams like ICAR's AIEEA PG and ASRB NET, focus more on specialized agriculture subjects you studied at the Bachelor's level. For state exams like MP PAT, lay equal emphasis on Agriculture subjects and Sciences - Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology.

Prepare from reliable sources:

Refer to the curriculum and study material provided by authorized agriculture universities and ICAR institutions relevant to the entrance exam you appear for.

Additionally, go through previous year's question papers and sample papers to understand the level of questions asked. Take guidance from your teachers and mentors for standard books and online material.

Develop your Agriculture Concept Clarity:

Instead of cramming definitions and facts, genuinely understand the theories, concepts and scientific principles you study from your reference books and prep material. Connect concepts you learn with real-life applications in Agriculture. This will help you apply knowledge correctly when answering analytical and applied questions.

Practice appearing in mock test series:

Attempting mock tests of different difficulty levels is the best way to get exam-ready. It will help improve your speed, accuracy and scoring ability. Rigorously revise and rectify your errors and weaker areas highlighted in the mock tests through practice tests.

Work on your strengths and improve weaknesses:

While practicing mock tests, assess subjects, topics and question types you are stronger in, such as questions from your post-graduation specialization branch.

Similarly, identify weaknesses that need improvement through more practice - be it your speed, certain complex subjects or specific question formats like matching type, numerical-based, factual or diagram-based questions. Accordingly, adapt your study plan.
