Frequently Asked Questions
JRF offers research funding and a stipend, which is ideal for those pursuing advanced studies. NET qualifies for teaching positions. The choice depends on your career goals: research-focused (JRF) or teaching-oriented (NET). Both have distinct advantages.
JRF is not permanent. It’s a two-year fellowship, non-extendable. Candidates must complete research within this timeframe, typically working towards a Ph.D. After JRF, scholars need to secure other positions or funding for continued research.
To qualify for JRF in History, earn a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks (general category) or 50% (SC, ST, OBC, PwBD, Transgender). Pass the NET exam in History, achieving the required cut-off score for JRF.
