FAQ

Q. How Many Attempts are there for JRF?

There is no restriction on the number of attempts candidates can make for the University Grants Commission's National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). Aspirants can appear for the exam as many times as they wish until they reach the age limit for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or the Assistant Professor position.

Q. How Many Students get JRF in the UGC NET Exam?

The UGC NET exam is highly competitive, with a limited number of candidates securing the coveted JRF qualification. According to the latest statistics, out of the total candidates who appeared for the exam, only 5,032 aspirants qualified for both the JRF and Assistant Professor Eligibility, while 53,762 candidates qualified solely for the Assistant Professor position.

Q. Can I Pass UGC NET but not Qualify?

Candidates can pass the UGC NET examination without qualifying for the lectureship or the JRF. The passing mark for the UGC NET is 40%. However, only the top 6% of candidates who appeared and passed both Paper 1 (based on general aptitude and reasoning) and Paper 2 (subject-specific) are awarded the lectureship or the JRF qualification, depending on their performance and merit.

Candidates who achieve a passing score of 40% but do not rank among the top 6% are considered to have passed the UGC NET but are not qualified for the lectureship or the JRF. They may continue to attempt the exam in subsequent cycles to improve their ranking and secure the desired qualification.
