To be considered for JRF or Assistant Professor positions, candidates must achieve at least 40% in both papers for the General category and 35% for the Reserved category.

Typically, around 2,200 candidates are awarded the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in the CSIR NET exam each year, with the possibility of extending their fellowship under certain conditions.

The JRF position is not permanent; the CSIR NET-JRF score is valid for two years, which can be extended up to three additional years for a Senior Research Fellowship (SRF).
