Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) Exam - 2024 Coaching
What is the AFCAT exam all about?
AFCAT is Air Force Common Admission Test which is conducted by the Indian Air Force for selection of officers in its various branches (except medical & dental services). The exam is conducted twice a year in the month of February and August.
How to apply for AFCAT 2024 exam?
Applications are required to be filled in by the candidates online only once the notification to this effect is out through various newspapers adverts.

Age limit for AFCAT exam
The age limit for Flying Branch (through AFCAT) and NCC special entry is: 20 to 24 years as on 01.01.2020.Upper age limit extendable for candidates holding valid Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) up to 26 years.
However, for the Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) Branch, the candidates are required to be in the age bracket of 20 to 26 years as on 01.01.2020.
Marital status for AFCAT exam 2024
The candidates applying for the AFCAT exam 2024 should be below 25 years of age and not be married at the time of commencement of the course. Widows/Widowers, divorcees (with/ without encumbrances) below 25 years of age are also not eligible to be considered for any posts. Married candidates above 25 years of age are eligible to apply, with no provision of office accommodation.
Educational qualifications for Air Force Common Admission Test.
Those applying for Air Force Common Admission Test (Flying Branch): The candidates should have mandatorily passed out securing a minimum of 60% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level
A minimum of three-year graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university, obtaining a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent, B.tech degree (four year course) from a recognised university securing a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or the candidates having cleared section A & B examination of associate membership of the Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
For Ground Duty (Tech/ Non-Tech) Branch.
For Administration & Logistics: A minimum of three-year graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university securing a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or cleared section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised university securing a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
AFCAT exam- 2024 NCC Special Entry (Flying Branch)
The NCC Air Wing Senior Division ‘C’ certificate acquired on or after 01.01.17 is mandatory for the candidates eyeing this branch. Candidates should have mandatorily passed with a minimum of 60% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level. Graduates with a minimum of three-year degree in any discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or
BE/B Tech degree (Four-year course) from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or
Candidates who have cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
Physical & medical parameters for AFCAT exam:
Guidelines regarding physical fitness and medical paradigms for candidates make it mandatory that the candidates should be physically fit to measure up to the prescribed physical standards.
Exam pattern for Air Force Common Admission Test
The exam will consist of 100 objective type questions, each carrying three marks, with negative marking formula applicable. The exam covers a wider spectrum of syllabus, including general awareness, verbal ability in English, numerical ability, reasoning & military aptitude.

The syllabus for the AFCAT exam-2024 is based on General Awareness, History, Sports, Geography, Environment, Civics, Polity, Basic Science, Defence, Art, Culture, Current Affairs, Politics, et al.
Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test
Verbal skills and spatial ability, verbal/non-verbal reasoning and logical reasoning will be a part of the written AFCAT exam-2024
Permanent Commission (PC) for Men.
Candidates keen on joining as PC officers would continue to serve till they attain superannuation age in their respective branches as per their rank.
Short Service Commission (SSC) for men & women.
The engaging period for Flying Branch (Men & Women) SSC Officers is fourteen years from the date of Commissioning (Non-extendable).
The initial tenure for Ground Duty (Technical & non-technical) SSC officers is ten years, extendable for a period of four year, subject to service requirements, availability of vacancies.
Result of AFCAT 2024 exam
Results of the AFCAT written exam is declared within 3/4 months after the written exam. Being a competitive exam, there is no fixed qualifying percentile cut off; those candidates who perform better are called up for SSB interviews. The final merit list is prepared after the SSB interviews displayed on the Indian Air Force website.
